Don't say I didn't warn you.

It is something nobody wants to talk about.Something nobody wants to admit to and something that probrably directly affects someone you know.It is the crippling mental illness of depression.

For those who suffer from this dreadfull affliction there is twice the trauma.There is the debilitating affects of the illness itself and there is also the battle against the social stigma of mental illness.Some are lucky enough to have friends or loved ones who are there in the dark hours of every day offer support but many suffer in silence,alone,battling the dreadful demons in their mind.

I am one of those people.....

Follow my latest journey as I ride 3,500 kilometers from Anchorage,Alaska to Penticton,British Columbia in an express ride to prepare for the 2011 Ultraman Canada Triathlon Championships.

Along the way I will try to share with you all the highs and lows of dealing with the dark shadows that are ever present and waiting to find you at your weakest.Hopefully those of you who can relate will find some comfort in the fact that you are not alone and maybe it will give you the strength to fight on.Hopefully too,those of you who have someone close to you suffering in silence ,will find the courage to step up and tell them that you care.

It is the silence that kills.

The silence of being too embarrassed to ask for help.

The silence of being too afraid to show you care.

It is time to break the silence!
